Now, plaid fashion is nothing new. How many times has it come back in style in your lifetime? If you’ve kept some of your better pieces, you’re in luck. But what is extremely strong this year? Plaid Blazers (in fact some of our favorites were so low in stock, we couldn’t even include them), grey or brown toned plaid pants, herringbone plaid, and anything with that college professorial vibe the youngers are calling Bourgeoise.
You can always tone down the plaid prints with solids, although honestly, it is quite stylish right now to go full plaid, or even mix bold prints. Yes, you can still pull this look off post 50. It’s easier to handle if you keep the tones the same, or separate with a swath of solid. There is no doubt some of the larger bolder plaids can accentuate areas you would rather minimize. So stick with the smaller scale plaids on the body parts you’d prefer not to call attention to, but go bold with your highlight areas.

Plaid pants — either wide and pleated, though because these pleats drop lower they are much more flattering on the belly. Or they are slim, tapered down to the ankles, which make tucking into a pair of knee-high boots easy, a look still all the rage though we’ve seen it for a while.

Skirts are longer – midi length, but still embracing the plaid. We saw much more expensive versions of both of these skirts. And the dress follows the skirt trend, but allows you to wear plaid head-to-toe.
