Confessions of a Beauty Addict
When it comes to makeup and skincare, I’m all in. And when I say all in, I mean it. I have rooms devoted to testing out and collecting makeup. This might be a little TMI, but I even purchased makeup display holders to store some of it when a local beauty shop was closing. I love the potential that a new, unopened makeup package offers us and love it even more when that product exceeds my expectations. Here’s my take and two cents on REFY Beauty and how it’s capturing our attention by catering to us all.
What Is REFY Beauty?
I know I explained it a teeny bit above, but REFY Beauty is a newer makeup and skin line. Created to break boundaries and offer never-before-made products, the brand’s goal is for every user to take their natural beauty and enhance it.
The brand’s mantra is a simple one: innovation, inclusivity, and simplicity. Each product has a range of versatile shades that suit and complement all types of skin and skin tones. Additionally, the products are of professional quality, so REFY aims to offer pro-level results when the products are used correctly.
The company is also a woman-owned business. Created in 2020 (amazing timing, right?) by influencer Jess Hunt along with Jenna Meek, these women wanted to create a beauty line that was both simple to use and could be sold online in a direct-to-consumer business model.
REFY Beauty Products
There are three mini beauty lines within the REFY Beauty line, each with easy-to-wear products and shades that are suitable for most skin tones.
Lip Collection
One of REFY’s most innovative products is their Lip Sculpt. Featuring a two-step application process, choose from one of six nude lip liners to line the lips, then add the Setter over the top for up to 10 hours of smudge-proof wear time. While I’ve seen lipsticks that have a sealing product to keep them on your lips, but I’ve never seen one in lip pencil style.
Face Collection
REFY’s face collection includes cream blush (including both warm and cool tones) and bronzers (ranging from light to deep), a dual-ended brush, and a multi-use Gloss highlighter. A little goes a long way with this last product. Personally, I think it would look beautiful during warmer weather months with just a light brushing of it on collar bones, the tip of the nose, and maybe a little on the shoulder area.
If you want to try all of the face products, there are a couple of bundled collections that will save you money as opposed to each product buying separately, so keep that in mind when shopping.
Brow Collection
The brow collection features three hero products: Brow Sculpt, Brow Pomade, and Brow Pencil, all of which come with light, medium, and dark shades to choose from. The Brow Sculpt allows you to get that feathery look that’s super trendy right now, and the Brow Pomade will shade in the spots in your brows that need a little extra color. Lastly, the Brow Pencil can give the look of individual brow hairs if you like that style.
Lastly, there’s a pair of REFY Tweezers that come in a vegan leather pouch. Comparable to the price of Tweezerman tweezers, I’m not sure I’d want to spend $14 on a pair of REFY ones until there are plenty of reviews to back up the brand’s claim that it’s a “must-have tool.”
REFY Beauty Prices
As for REFY Beauty prices, I’d compare them to the prestige brand side of the store at Ulta. Blushes and bronzers range from $20 to 26 each, the lip and brow collections range from $40 to $55 per product, and its lip gloss comes in at $20.
So, what makes REFY Beauty worth the investment? Well, there are a couple of reasons. First, REFY Beauty products are created with natural ingredients. Second, they’re both vegan (woot!) and cruelty-free (even bigger WOOT!). Lastly, the packages are recyclable, so it’s less strain on our planet.
The bottom line question for me: would I pay extra for a makeup and beauty line that supports women, offers high-end quality products, deletes the middleman for its sales, and allows me to sleep at night by being kind to animals? Oh, in a hot minute, I would.
