When you look at the makeup trends on social media today, it can be a bit daunting. All of the caked-on foundation and huge brows that can look a bit clown-like can be interesting, to say the least. Don’t get me wrong, I love drag queens as much as the next person, but I do not make it a habit to imitate their makeup on a daily basis (such as seems the norm these days amongst the younger crowd). In fact, I make it a point to do the opposite, and that’s what we will do today!
We will look into some makeup hacks for putting on makeup that will help mature women ditch some of these fads that could be holding them back from their true beauty. Let’s embrace our age and find out what works the best.
1. A Good Canvas Does so Much
As we get older, our skin does not hold onto hydration like it did when we were younger. That, combined with the effects from the sun, environment, gravity, and everything in between, causes our skin to need all the help it can get.

2. Building a Good Foundation
Finding the right foundation is so important. The last thing you want is a cakey, heavy foundation. Try something nice and sheer that has a little bit of a glow to it. When you put this on after moisturizing, it will make your skin look dewy and youthful.

3. Focus on Your Eyes Without Overdoing Them
It’s easy to get carried away with eye shadows and liners, but sometimes that can have an aging effect on top of looking muddy and heavy.
- Stick to lighter eyeshadows and compliment your eye color and make them pop! Taupes with warmer undertones are lovely for people with green and blue eyes. For brown and darker eyes, almost everything is fun, and you can try peaches and lighter, cooler neutrals.
- Also, using a pencil liner on the upper lid and smudging it with a small angled liner brush can really help smooth out the line. Blend it to give it a soft feel.

4. Get Some Color!

5. Lips Up Ladies
When we age we lose our lips in the process, so ditch those super vampy dark matte liquid lip colors. They make your mouth look small, and the dry texture isn’t helping at all.
The trick is to take a lip liner that is your lip tone or a hint darker and overline your lips (just a teensy bit!). Next, fill them in with the lip color and then finish with a pop of gloss on top and your lips will feel and look bigger. Reflecting that shine really gives the impression of a fuller lip. If you love your lipsticks, go for a fun red, pink, or even neutral color.
