Going From Day to Night
There are several reasons to take a look from day to night, and things to keep in mind when doing so. First, things can be a little more dramatic for a night look. It will be a lot darker. There will be mood lighting and ambiance which means your makeup will need to be a little more pronounced to be noticeable. You may be doing a lot of flash photography, especially if you are celebrating! Popping up the color, depth and drama in your eye makeup ensures you are camera ready.
Step 1: Add More Depth
Following the shape from the everyday eye makeup look, you will add a darker eyeshadow color. We recommend the Naked2 Basics eyeshadow palette and using one of the last 3 colors in the palette like Cover, Primal or Undone. Really lay on this color, and don’t be afraid of going too dark or using too much! You can always wipe away excess or start over.
After, choose another dark color from the palette that will compliment. Add this just over where you placed your first color. Then you will want to soften the edges of the shadow and blend. We recommend the Blender Brush included in this Morphe Eye Obsessed Brush Collection, which also has other high-quality brushes you can use to complete any eye makeup tutorial.

Step 2: Add Some Shimmer
One of the myths surrounding makeup for women over 50 is that they cannot use shimmer. This is untrue! When done correctly shimmer will highlight and look amazing. So we are adding a little drama to this look with just a bit of shimmer. Using the fluffy brush, add a shimmery eye shadow where there is currently none. Use a light hand here and build up the color. When done use the same fluffy brush to blend the color.

Step 3: Darken Your Eyeliner
Go over your eyeliner to darken it with a gel or liquid eyeliner. We recommend Limelife by Alcone’s Perfect Eyeliner Pen. You do not need to fill in the entire shape, but at least darken the lash line. For more control start from the outer edge of the liner and go in, to the halfway point. Then go from your inner eye and connect the two lines. If you also have trouble with eyeliner skipping pull your eye taut.

Bonus: Tightlining
This step is a little more advanced but it can add some real drama to your eye. Use a pencil eyeliner, like Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil, to add eyeliner to your waterline. This is the line of skin between the lower eyelashes and eye. Only add eyeliner to the outer third of the waterline, or your eye may look heavy. Then use an eyeliner brush to blend this out just a bit. An eyeliner brush is included in the brush set recommended above.
Step 4: Go for Big, Dramatic Lashes
The final step is to add some drama to your look with big, bold lashes! How big and bold you go is up to you but when I go out I usually do 2 or 3 coats of Too Faced Damn Girl! Mascara. This mascara is great because it uses fibers to build volume, almost like falsies in a tube. If you are having trouble with mascara clumping you can use a clean mascara brush on your lashes.
