Menopause and How it Affects Your Hair

Sponsored post.

With the onset of perimenopause, estrogen and progesterone levels begin to drop, which eventually leads to menopause. Women experience a whole host of symptoms, one of which is, unfortunately, hair loss. Progesterone and estrogen both play a huge role in the hair growth cycle, so as your body stops producing these hormones, your hair will probably become weaker and begin to thin out overall. You may notice a change in the texture of your hair and the length it grows too. Your hair will likely become more coarse, dry, and brittle and break more easily – most likely because of the aging process and the change in your hormones.

Do you have a maturing hairline?

It is a lot more common for men to experience complete balding than women; however, with menopause, most women’s hair does begin to thin out overall. Most women who experience hair loss initially notice thinning around the hairline and near the temples – which is referred to as a maturing hairline.

What can you do?

The good news is that there are ways in which you can rejuvenate and reduce the hair loss that is caused by menopause. Changing certain things in your life like your diet, the amount you exercise, managing your stress levels, or changing the hair products/supplements you use could be the solution and the start of your hair care journey.

So can I get my strong, silky, ‘younger’ hair back?

The answer is yes, you can regenerate the areas of hair that you have lost and, over time, improve its texture. But you have to be comfortable with the fact that attaining healthy hair and reducing hair loss is a long-term commitment. Apart from diet and lifestyle changes, supplements at this age are key to making sure your body has all the nutrients it needs to produce strong and healthy hair. Stick to brands that use naturally sourced and clinically tested ingredients – so you know the type of results you can look forward to, such as KeraHealth Hair

Formulas that contain antioxidants and stress adaptogens are great for helping control cortisol levels. Look for formulas that contain the amazing antioxidant superoxide dismutase (SOD). SOD works to reduce oxidative stress build-up, which can actually speed up the aging process and can cause your hair to fall out faster than usual. You should also look out for products that contain biotin, niacin, and pantothenic acid (from the family of B vitamins). These ingredients all work to nourish the hair from within and create the best environment for your hair to grow and become strong and healthy. They also work to stimulate hair regrowth. With KeraHealth Hair, you should expect to see results within 3 months of use, but of course, the longer you take the supplements, the stronger and healthier your hair will become.

When it comes to washing your hair, you want to make sure you’re using the right products for your hair. Try to use a paraben, sulfate, and SLS-free shampoo that is rich in keratin. Keratin is able to repair shaft damage topically and give you that soft, silky hair you had in your 30’s! Be careful, however, because many brands contain keratin that is unabsorbable by the body. KeraHealth has a patented way to break down the chains of keratin into small enough pieces for the body to absorb and really work its magic! The ‘chunks’ of keratin are small enough to be absorbed through the hair follicle, and at the same time, it mends any ridges or damage to the hair shaft as well. You should also look out for hair growth shampoos and conditioners that contain biotin and coconut oil, as they work together to soften, cleanse, and feed your hair follicles, helping to stimulate hair growth.

Using a scalp massaging tool is another great way to increase the body’s absorption of the products you are using topically. While your hair growth conditioner is mending your strands, why not use a scalp energizer to really make sure the product is being absorbed while also stimulating blood flow to the scalp which really helps promote hair growth.
