Making a Difference for the Girl Scouts and the Wine Industry

A few weeks ago, before the Coronavirus scourge, we at Prime Women, thought it would be fun to do a Girl Scout cookie and wine pairing video. Many of us were Girl Scouts, troop leaders, and mothers and fathers of Girl Scouts. And if we were none of those, we probably bought Girl Scout cookies.

Little did we know that today with sheltering in place, and no place to go to have a glass of wine, that the wine industry would be in such a world of hurt. And being a nonprofit, and unable to fundraise as usual, the Girl Scouts would also be negatively affected.

So when asked how we can help from our homes, we decided that instead of just putting out a cute video, we would do our part by encouraging our readers to buy Girl Scout cookies online and pair them with great wines that we can order right here (below). That way we stay safe, help a nonprofit and the wine industry (both which employ thousands of people) and enjoy some of our favorite cookies and wines.

If you don’t remember or never knew, the Girl Scouts has 112 local councils throughout the U.S supporting programs for over 3.7 million girls. Girl Scout troop activities and curriculum are paid for by cookie sales. The other non-cookie fundraising, which is also significant, goes for Girl Scout program outreach to underserved communities where girls want the scouting experience but do not have the funds.

Boisset Wines is a 50+-year-old family-owned collection of historic and unique wineries in Napa Valley and Russian River Valley in California. The head of this family is Jean-Charles Boisset, a charming French-born entrepreneur whose parents started making wine in France where the family still owns and runs wineries. Jean-Charles and his sister would later come to the U.S. to start their wine business here.

So will you join me and my Prime Women friends in supporting the Girl Scouts and Boisset wines? And have your own virtual Girl Scout and Boisset wine tasting party!
