The most dreaded words in fashion headlines is “Swimsuit Season is Here!” Perhaps this image captures the way most of us, after a certain age, would like to dress for the all too public eye when headed to the beach. Regardless of what our bodies may have endured, after a certain age our skin and the shape of our bodies changes. However, that doesn’t mean we have to cast to the wind the idea of languid afternoons at the beach or at the pool with our grandchildren.
There are some great options out there. My tutorial on modern, appropriate and affordable swimwear just may make the difference in a summer filled with fun and one hiding under an umbrella in a caftan.
The most important thing is to know your body type and shape. A one piece swimsuit can disguise, hide and transform your body. Take a look at these choices for summer sunning.
Want to look taller? Look for vertical stripes, color blocking and deep V necklines.
Need to camouflage a tummy, fuller hips or large bust?
Look for shirring to camouflage a heavy torso and to give shape to a short-waist torso. Structured one piece suits work well for a low bustline. And don’t be afraid of pattern, not only is it flattering it is on the hot trend list for this season.
