Other anti-inflammatory solutions like aspirin, naproxen, and ibuprofen have potentially harmful side effects if taken too often. But in a 2016 study done with CBD on rats, they concluded “that topical CBD application has therapeutic potential for relief of arthritis pain-related behaviours and inflammation without evident side-effects.”
Note: You do want to check with your doctor before taking CBD especially if you are taking medications, as it can intensify the dose you are taking or have interactions similar to how grapefruit does.
It’s this 2011 government study titled Cannabidiol as an emergent therapeutic strategy for lessening the impact of inflammation on oxidative stress, that really hits home. They concluded:
“Targeting oxidative stress in various diseases therapeutically has proven more problematic than first anticipated given the complexities and perversity of both the underlying disease and the immune response. However, growing evidence suggests that the endocannabinoid system may be an area that is ripe for therapeutic exploitation. In this context, the related nonpsychotropic cannabinoid cannabidiol, which may interact with the endocannabinoid system but has actions that are distinct, offers promise as a prototype for anti-inflammatory drug development.”
All in all, if you are trying to lessen the inflammation in your body, CBD oil seems beneficial to add to your arsenal, both for the potential of anti-inflammatory effects and addressing contributing causes.
