Road Test: Elle Macpherson’s SUPER ELIXIR Greens

I was preparing to write this story when I met a long-time friend for breakfast. She’s 60 and does some writing for us. Toward the end of our meal, talk turned to beauty. After telling me about her obsessions with K beauty“Look it up!” she implored — my friend peered closely at me and asked, “What are you doing for your skin? It looks amazing!” She brushed her fingertips from her jawline to her cheeks. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity.

I leaned in and told her: WelleCo SUPER ELIXIR Greens.

But let me back up. I didn’t start drinking SUPER ELIXIR for my skin; I started drinking it after months of feeling off. I’ve known for a few years that I should be following an anti-inflammatory regimen. In fact, I spent eight weeks in 2017 following a rigorous low-sugar plan, and I’ve never felt better. The problem in keeping it up was that the meal prep was very labor and time intensive. (Also cupcakes are delicious.) And so I found myself once again feeling tired and achy, and searching for solutions.

A few months ago, when I came down with a sinus infection and started to feel even more run down, I went so far as to hire a nutritionist who specializes in an anti-inflammatory diet. But I had trouble following her many rules. She and I lasted only a few weeks. That’s when I turned again to WelleCo SUPER ELIXIR Greens.

I read about Elle Macpherson’s green superfood powder online even before her company, WelleCo, began advertising. I knew about the signs of chronic, low-level inflammation (fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, food cravings, mood swings, headaches, hormonal imbalances, skin problems, and aches and pains), and I knew that I’d been experiencing many of those things for years without having a serious medical problem.

Like many people, I find it challenging to get the nutrition I need to feel my best.

There’s no question that I should be eating more whole fruits and vegetables than I am, but like many people, I find it challenging to get the nutrition I need to feel my best. That’s where the alkalizing formula of WelleCo’s SUPER ELIXIR comes in. Even a little boost would help, I figured. And so more than a month ago, I committed to the supplement for 30 days — it’s now been longer than that — and not only do I feel more energetic and have fewer aches, but numerous people have commented on my smooth, glowing skin.

As you can probably tell by my tried-and-failed stories above, I need things to be simple in order to sustain them. So I started the experiment by making my first bottle of water each morning a Super Elixir infusion. I put 2 teaspoons of the powder into my water bottle, shook it up, and headed to my morning workout. Easy. Later, when I was feeling slightly more adventurous, I made some of the simple recipes on the WelleCo website (like the chocolate mint raspberry smoothie and vanilla banana spinach smoothie) and added the greens powder to some of my go-to recipes, like a smoothie made with chia seeds and blueberries.

I should also tell you that when I started drinking SUPER ELIXIR, I stopped every other supplement I was taking. I did so because I read that Macpherson’s doctor had advised her to do that and also because through the suggestions of various articles and professionals over the years, I’d built up quite a long list of daily vitamins and supplements: B, D, C, magnesium, turmeric, biotin, MSM, probiotics, and more. I quit all that to just let the 45 whole-food ingredients in SUPER ELIXIR do their thing to support my body’s systems.

If my improved energy levels and the many compliments about my skin are evidence, I think it’s safe to say that changes are happening both inside and out (skin regenerates itself fully about every 27 days).

And I plan to keep up the SUPER ELIXIR while also continuing to try to lower my body’s inflammation through good habits like more fruits and vegetables, less sugar, and more water. I’m trying to do — and feel — my best each day. Great skin is the bonus.
