Why does my hair feel so dry in winter? The fly-aways and static electricity drive me crazy! Just putting on a sweater makes my hair look like I have sat in an electric chair. Help!!!

I’ve always loved Vermont and, after reading your letter, I am so glad that I am hair-follicle-challenged and I wear a hat when I visit.
In all seriousness, many people who live in very cold winter climates experience your problem.
First of all, there is little humidity in winter and dryness is common in both skin and hair.
Added to that, everywhere we find comfort is heated, further reducing moisture levels. The result is chapped lips and split ends that seem to have a life of their own.
What your hair needs is moisture. My most basic shampoo and conditioner were designed with this in mind: hydration.

But, there are other things you can do that will help your situation.
First, sleep with a humidifier in your bedroom. A humidifier adds moisture into the entire room.
