Last week, June 20-24, was The Royal Ascot, a major event in the British social calendar. This high stakes horse race is attended by the Queen and has always been known for high fashion with much of the focus on headwear, both elegant and fabulously outrageous. Despite the changing fashions over the year, high standards are still maintained during the annual event, much to the delight of fashion connoisseurs everywhere.
Prime Women co-founder Jan Fletcher OBE attended The Royal Ascot again this year and shared a few photos with us. Her hat was custom made to match her outfit by Jenny Roberts. She is pictured below on the left with Sile Aldis. Sile’s husband Peter Aldis is CEO of Holland and Barrett, Europe’s largest VMS supplier.

PRiME reader and fashionista, Cece Smith recently hosted her annual Spring party with husband Ford. While always chic and impeccably dressed, Cece kicked it up a notch this year with her stunning MaxMara ensemble. Cece and Ford travel to London three or four times a year, and on her last trip, she was strolling down Bond Street when she saw the outfit featured in the picture below in the window of the MaxMara boutique. Of course, being Cece, she had to try it on and ended up purchasing the entire outfit, including the matching leggings. Not to be completely outdone, Ford’s shoes are by Edward Green of Northampton, a shop on Jermym Street in London.
Cece did say that while the outfit was certainly not inexpensive, it has been surprisingly versatile. She wears the skirt with other tops and blouses, the leggings can be worn with a dress or tunic and the top is basic enough to wear by itself with other pants and skirts and it also looks great worn under a jacket.
