They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and I say the road to a wide backside is also paved with similar intentions. Take my workout regimen, for example. I pay for a gym membership each month and have gone exactly zero times in the last year and a half. I skipped the Peloton craze and instead invested in one of those high-end rowers to work out at home. I was a madman on it for a month straight, virtually rowing all over the world, then an injured ankle stopped my momentum. I have yet to sit back in the seat again. The ankle’s been healed for about a year.
So, yeah, I’m a total quitter when it comes to exercise.
I know I’m in good company. Maybe you’re someone that joins me in this failed fairytale of fitness. But there’s an option out there that may have all of us back in ship-shape, so to speak (even if you aren’t a rowing fan).
It’s called Future, and it’s a fitness app that merges all the things you need for success: a trainer who fits your personality and motivation type, accountability to make sure you are moving and grooving, and technology that proves you’re working out when you say you are, or totally rats you out when you’re not.
Looking into Future
Few of us really know what it takes to get as fit as we want to be. That’s why we count on trainers, and Future offers up some of the best in the nation. I’m talking about strength and conditioning coaches who’ve worked with major sports teams or training collegiate athletes – even some who’ve worked with Olympians. These folks know what it takes to get you where you need to be. And when you’re part of Future, you get to pick the one you think would help you most. If you’re unsure, you can answer a questionnaire to help you figure it out.
Then that trainer will help design a workout routine that’s safe, effective, and realistic for you. You’ll build a relationship with the trainer as they check in on you each day, providing accountability and motivation that won’t allow you to quit (the way I’ve always done in the past). They’ll make sure you’re doing the exercises right and mix them up enough to make them effective.
Don’t like your trainer, or don’t feel it’s a fit? You can switch at any time. But you may actually start to look forward to that feedback on your weekly routines. I’m not saying you’ll become best buddies because let’s be honest, it’s hard to be pals with someone who’s putting your body through the ringer day in and day out. But they’ll do the job you ask of them, which is whipping you into shape (in a kind way). I mean, being buddies is a bonus, but not what you’re paying them for.
Speaking of paying, what’s the cost?
So how much will you be paying? Well, for the first month, you only pay half price. That’s the trial phase where you make sure it’s a fit for you. They’re that confident that Future will get you the results you want. After that first month, it’s $149/month. You can quit anytime, and there’s no penalty if you stop and no commitment that requires a massive payment upfront. Again, you can cancel at any time. But you won’t want to. What do you get for your money? A lot. It includes tailor-made workouts, one-on-one guidance, encouragement, and accountability to keep you going, making it harder to skip the workouts (like I have a habit of doing).
How do they know you’re actually doing the workout and not just saying you’re doing it? Well, you can sync it with an Apple watch that’ll tell them through its analytics. If you don’t have a watch, this may be just the motivation you need to get one to track your steps and heart rate and keep up with your social life – all on your wrist!
Plus, you can pick where you want to do the workouts, whether that’s at home, at your gym, or on the road if you’re traveling for work or fun, and your trainer can tweak them accordingly.
Does it Work?
Well, as with any other exercise, it works if you do. The difference is you have someone checking in on you to motivate you. Most fitness failures happen because reaching those goals takes time, effort, and dedication. If you’re like me, you want instant results. That’s just not the way it works. And these trainers are going to remind you of that. They’ll keep your objectives realistic.
Often, when you give up, it’s as much mental as it is physical, and they’ll help you over that hump. They won’t let you give up. They’ve trained the best, so they know what it takes to make you in the best shape of your life, too.
Why try?
If you’re still on the fence about whether Future should be part of your future, ask yourself this: Do you struggle with activities you should enjoy with your family because you’re carrying around more weight than you should? Do you like what you see when you look in the mirror? If you’re like me, you’re not loving the reflection. In fact, that would make you like most people since statistics show MOST Americans are unhappy with how their body looks at times. 79% if you want to get technical, according to a recent survey. It’s a staggering statistic, and you can blame it on any number of things.
If you’re like most of us, you’d love to change that, so you can look in the mirror and smile about not just how good you look but how fit you feel. Future is one option that can change your future in all the right ways. And with a free trial period, why not see for yourself? What do you really have to lose, other than that extra weight that’s been holding you back, physically and mentally? Good luck! And report back on your results! I can’t wait to see what your Future holds.
