Today was the day – I ate my first cronut! Of course, I’ve been hearing about cronuts for about 2 years, but having no close access to one on my usual routes to and from the office, I never tried one.
I used to eat donuts and croissants – what’s not to love about both of them – but haven’t in a long time due to doing my best to eat healthier. However I was curious to see how the combo tasted. So my assistant found a place not far away from the office and brought in some of all of their varieties – glazed, sugar coated, powder sugar coated.
Wow, better than a donut and a croissant. Fortunately we cut them all up so we could moderate the sugar and fat intake, but everyone agreed – “delicious.” The only thing keeping me from a regular dose of cronuts is the following:
Calories per cronut – 590
Fat per cronut – 26g – 234 calories
Saturated fat – 16g – 144 calories
Carbs – 81g – 324 calories
Sugar – 41g – 164 calories
I’m glad I tried it, but now every time I think about cronut, I’ll think about the nutritional nightmare that is truly is and stay away!!!
