PRIME WOMEN TO LAUNCH FIRST-EVER TELEVISION NETWORK FOR AND BY WOMEN 50+

Independent, Female-Owned TV Network Caters to the 63 Million Women
in the U.S. Over 50 Who are Seriously Underrepresented on Television

Led by Veteran Ad Executive Dorthy Miller Shore, Valerie Freeman,
and Jan Fletcher, along with 16 Successful Business Women and Investors

Dallas, TX (April 25, 2023)

Prime Women Media, the popular digital lifestyle community for women over 50, is expanding its reach with plans to launch a 24/7 linear television network bringing informative, entertaining, and inspiring content to women in their prime. The network, founded by and featuring women over 50, is developing and acquiring programming on important topics impacting women in their prime – health and fitness, career and finance, relationships, and more. Prime Women turns a spotlight on female leaders and role models, breaking the stereotypes and redefining what it means to be a woman in her prime.

The new network is led by Dorthy Miller Shore, board chair and CEO of Prime Women Media, Valerie Freeman, and Jan Fletcher, with investments from 16 additional leading female executives, business leaders, and entrepreneurs, including Kristine Davis, co-founder of Avatar Investments, L.P.

“There are 63 million women over 50 in the U.S. These women, who live in cities, suburbs, and rural areas and have different ethnicities and political affiliations, all face the same issues after 50. They all have been changed by menopause, which brings more than just the loss of childbearing. Many women over 50 face serious mental and physical changes, find their careers waning due to sexism and ageism; and feel increasingly invisible in a youth-obsessed culture. Yet we are the most active, ambitious, and influential group of women in a generation,” said Dorthy Miller Shore.

Twenty percent of women in the U.S. are over 50, yet their on-air screen time is only 8%. They face new challenges in every aspect of their lives as they age. Still, no television network gives them the information and inspiration that will come from watching how other women like them are tackling these problems. As the first-ever television network dedicated to this underserved audience, Prime Women celebrates what women are doing in this phase of their life. Whether dealing with health issues, dating after divorce or widowhood, caring for a parent or spouse, overcoming ageism in the workforce, managing finances post-retirement, and finding a second act, Prime Women will address these topics and more through a wide range of genres. The Prime Women television network will build on what Prime Women’s online magazine has done by educating and entertaining its audience through documentaries, specials, and doc/reality series, all featuring women over 50.

Added Dorthy, “This demographic is especially appealing to advertisers and to cable and satellite providers. Women over 50 embrace traditional television and love to channel surf. They may have a streaming service, but they are not cord-cutters. They account for 27% of all consumer spending. They also generally make household purchase decisions for video entertainment, wifi, mobile phones, and other products and services. Based on our expertise within our digital community, we already know the pressing issues facing women.

We’re using these insights to launch a network that meets the needs of women over 50. We’re uniquely catering to a powerful demographic and opening opportunities for advertisers to speak directly to these women.”

Prime Network is led by an impressive group of female entrepreneurs, business leaders, and investors:
