Booties have been getting all of the attention lately, but as the temps continue to dip and holiday social season is upon us, having a few trusty tall boots in your closet will not only keep you warm but bring your hemline up. Tall boots are traditionally chosen to wear with shorter hemlines than a bootie simply because of the natural elongation of the leg.
This season the big trend has been all about western-inspired boots, and when we say western, consider both continents’ concept of western. In America, we envision cowboys and pioneer women in the great sweeping panoramas of the American West; in Europe the imaginings are more oriented around riding and hunting, with visions of Scottish moors and thick, forested taigas of central Europe.
With these inspirations at hand, it is easy to curate the perfect outfit, no matter the occasion for which you are dressing. Midi-skirts are our first suggestion, as their fullness echo the western aesthetic. Sweater dresses are also a really great starting point with their inherent minimalism lending toward a bevy of accessories aimed to compliment the boot. Tall boots are absolutely appropriate for work wear but be sure to keep the style on the modest side and leave over-the-knee boots for nights out.
Below, you’ll see ten of our favorite tall boots for the season.
