Here Comes the Sun: The Best Summer Hats

With summer just around the corner, it’s time to get serious about protecting your skin, especially your face. We’re not twenty anymore or even close. Most of us already have some serious sun damage and while a good sunscreen and sunglasses are a must, you can’t get by with a sun visor anymore. You need a great hat with UPF 50+ to give you full protection.

Haven’t convinced you? How about this statistic: skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States with more than one million cases diagnosed annually, according to The Skin Cancer Foundation. Yikes! You can protect your skin by wearing sun-protective clothing such as broad-brimmed hats, long-sleeved shirts, or pants.

Fortunately, skin cancer, both melanoma, and non-melanoma is preventable and treatable when detected early. Exposure to UV also results in premature aging–none of us need that! UV rays break down the collagen and elastin fibers in healthy skin. Only a broad-brimmed hat can help prevent exposure to UV on your face, neck, and scalp.
