What is VelaShape and Who Should Consider It?

It’s no secret that every woman has cellulite. Over the last few years, it has been great to see the body acceptance involving cellulite and women coming together to acknowledge that cellulite is a natural thing and isn’t something to be ashamed of.

However, if you are struggling with that acceptance and your cellulite is getting in the way of your life, you have options. And one of the top options you have is something called VelaShape.

The appearance of cellulite on the back of legs can be resolved with VelaShape

What is VelaShape?

VelaShape is a non-invasive approach to reduce the appearance of cellulite. It is cleared by the FDA to temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite without the downtime and without massive amounts of discomfort.

VelaShape isn’t just for helping reduce the looks of your cellulite – it is also to help reduce the circumference of your thighs and abdomen.

Is VelaShape permanent?

No, VelaShape is not permanent. It is a temporary solution that you can expect to last for about six months. Once that six-month mark is up, you will need to go in for another treatment for the cellulite appearance to stay gone.

You can best maintain your results by going for at least three follow-up sessions per year.

How many treatments of VelaShape do I need?

To achieve the longest-lasting and most effective results, you will likely need to go in for three to six treatment sessions. This will help you get the toned and contoured look you’re hoping to attain.

Each session should be spaced about a week apart to allow you to see results.

How does it work?

VelaShape Treatment on abdomen

Most cellulite treatments on the market use just one approach to treat the appearance of cellulite. VelaShape, however, uses four, which makes it a popular option because it tends to be much more successful.

VelaShape uses infrared light, bipolar radiofrequency (RF) energy, mechanical massage, and gentle suction to generate results.

The suction works to bring the skin closer to the bipolar RF energy inside the device used by the technician. Then, the massage works to relax and stretch the bands under the skin that cause cellulite. The infrared light and the RF energy work to tighten the tissue in your skin, which causes fat cells to shrink and possibly even die. The heat used in this treatment helps tighten the collagen fibers right under the skin and stimulate collagen and elastin production, which are key in building firmness in the skin.

Who is VelaShape for?

VelaShape is for people who struggle with the appearance of their cellulite and/or who are looking to contour their bodies.

Often doctors use VelaShape on patients who have had liposuction to help with the recovery process and aid in tightening the skin.

It is important to note that VelaShape is not a weight-loss treatment and instead serves as a way to contour your body. Those with a body mass index (BMI) of over 30 are likely not the best candidates for VelaShape and should look into weight loss options.

How long does a VelaShape treatment take?

One of the great things about VelaShape is that the procedure doesn’t take long. You can expect to be in and out within 30 minutes. Also, there is no downtime following your treatment, and you can go back to life as usual.

Is it painful?

Most people say that there is no pain involved with VelaShape, though that may vary from person to person.

Does VelaShape reduce fat?

No, VelaShape does not have the power to actually reduce fat. It is used to reduce the appearance, but if you are looking for actual fat reduction, you may want to try a body contouring treatment.

How long does it take to see results?

Some people may see results from VelaShape fairly quickly, but most people find that they notice the most difference about ten weeks after the treatment.

How much does VelaShape cost?

The cost of VelaShape depends on the area of your body you choose to do the treatment and how many different areas you have — the larger the size of the body, the more expensive the treatment. And, the more difficult areas (such as thighs) are more expensive as well.

You can expect each body area to cost anywhere between $125 – $300 per session, but again, that price may vary depending on where you go for treatment. Most people find that they average around $2,000 for a series of treatments.

Does it really work?

Women after cellulite treatments

Clinical trials and studies show that VelaShape is effective in treating the appearance of cellulite and skin laxity. Many found that they lost 1 centimeter to 3 inches of reduction in the size of the areas that they had treated. However, the most successful results often come from patients who did regular treatments, meaning they went in twice a week for up to eight weeks.
